I'd say "dead" might be a bit strongly worded. Still: The last quarter was a devastating one for Windows Phone / mobile Windows. Sales went down a staggering 57 percent. This is especially troubling because the new Lumias were introduced last quarter. Personally I'm not overly surprised given that it was pretty obvious for quite some time now that Microsoft is shifting its focus away from mobile Windows (though there is a very vocal minority who comes out in force if you dare to say so ;) ). Also when playing around with the Lumia 950 / XL I pretty quickly got the feeling that this is a device where the manufacturer stopped caring about it at some point during development. Releasing it with such unfinished software seemed like a "Let's get over with this" kinda statement to me.
Having said that: Will be interesting to see what all that means for the rumored Surface Phone - and how seriously MS is going to take this one. Also I wonder if any mobile Windows devices by other manufacturers will actually make it to market (given that MS reportedly has told its partners that they are not going to continue mobile Windows on ARM)
